Hello Everyone,

Last week we have really been enjoying the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We have read different versions of the story and the children have been amazing at telling us the similarties and differences. We have also enjoyed the story of Jack and the baked beanstalk and Jack and the meanstalk. On Monday afternoon we played the beans game outside and also how many beanbag we could throw into the buckets. We also enjoyed going to see the horses on the school field.
On Tuesday afternoon we had great fun making a castle outside around the tree house. Following on from this on Wednesday we painted our castle and made a beanstalk and flag. Throughout the week we have been planting our own magic beans and making a castle for it to grow up to. We talked about what a bean needs to be able to grow. Please do bring in pictures of your growing beanstalk.
On Thursday afternoon we had great fun acting out the story of Jack and the beanstalk in the outside area using trees, slides and the wooden house. We have enjoyed using the puppet theatre to retell the story using the puppets with our friends. On Tuesday afternoon the children enjoyed listening to and learning about the different musical instruments used by the Durnorvaria Silver Band. On Wednesday morning we went to watch the performance of 'I am Turtle'. It was performed by a theatre company and the story was based around about the dangers of plastics in the sea to the animals. The children really enjoyed the production and understood the key message from the show. On Friday the children enjoyed their swimming session.

This week we are going to continue to enjoy the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We will be making our own castles using junk modelling.  We will be planting different types of beans and watching them grow.  We may have a surprise letter from the giant and lots more fun activities. Keeping our bodies healthy

Hello everyone,

Last week we talked about different ways to ourselves healthy and safe. We shared stories about keeping ourselves clean, looking after our teeth. We came up with a list of ways to safe in the sun. Following on from this group talks we made different posters to display around pre-school to remind us how to keep healthy. We made some washing hands posters and keeping safe in the sun posters.  We also enjoyed learning about the different body parts and their jobs e.g spine, heart, lungs, stomach etc. On Wednesday afternoon we had great fun drawing around our bodies outside using chalks and then drawing the different parts. We have also been very busy planting out some of our flower seedlings we have grown in the polytunnel into our garden area. On Tuesday we really enjoyed having snack with our grandparents and showing them all the things we enjoyed doing at pre-school. On Friday afternoon we loved playing bingo and some ring games outside. On Friday morning some of us went swimming, we practiced picking up hoops from the bottom of the pool, blowing bubbles, putting our face in the water and kicking our legs. We have finished drawing our self portrait for the tea towel. A letter will be out soon with the details of how to purchase these. On Thursday a group of children ask the other children what they would like in their sandwich for snack and made a tally with the information. They then went to kitchen to make the sandwiches for snack.

This week we are going to be learning all about the importance of exercise and observing the effects of exercise on our bodies. We are also going to be talking about healthy foods and a balance diet. We are going to be making fruit or pasta salad and deciding what we could put in these to make it. As an ECO school please could the children come in with a small plastic container to bring home their pasta or fruit salad. On Tuesday we have got the dentist coming to visit to talk about how to look after our teeth.  We are going to be sharing lots of stories and group discussions  at group time. We have got our sponsored bike and scooter ride this week. On Friday morning we will be going to visit the Life Education van to meet Harold the giraffe.
