Hello everyone,
Last week we enjoyed listening to the story of The elves and the shoemaker. It has been great to read different versions of the story. The children have noticed the similarities and differences in the story. We have been drawing around our own feet and guessing how many cubes would fit inside our foot outline. We then filled our foot outline with cubes and counted how many would fit. We really liked our welly throwing game and we used the metre rulers to measure how far we could throw a welly. We have also been using different textured materials to design a shoe. These are up on on display. We have also enjoyed colouring in and painting shoes. We have used the scissors to cut out our shoes. These are also up on display. On Tuesday morning Molly's mum who is a dancer came in with her different dance shoes. We found out all about latin and ballroom shoes, costumes and dancing. We even had a go at dancing and tapping out rhythms. We have also enjoyed playing in the shoe shop role play area. We have also been writing letters to the elves and posting them in our postbox at pre-school. We had our weekly PE session with Mr Treble on Tuesday morning and we practiced our ball skills and running around games. On Monday afternoon we planted some bulbs in our garden. On Friday afternoon we got the guinea pigs out and held them on our laps. It has been a great week.
This week we will be continuing the story of The elves and the shoemaker story. On Monday morning we will be joining Reception to watch the Ballet of The elves and the shoemaker. On Tuesday afternoon we have got a visitor coming in to talk about sport shoes. On Tuesday morning we have our PE session with Mr Treble. On Thursday morning we have another visitor coming in to show us their shoes for ballet and tap. We will also be making some shoes this week. We will be doing some gardening and lots more fun learning.
