Christmas is coming

Hello everyone,

Last week we went to the Poundbury garden centre to look at the Christmas decorations. The children really enjoyed riding in Bobs taxis and on the way there the children  pointed out different places they recognised. We looked at all the Christmas decorations and talked about the colours, shapes, nativity and decorations we liked. We watched the trains go around the track upstairs in the garden centre. The children tried on a Christmas hat and we took a photo. Have a look at the photos and the children's recall of the trip on the board.
We have been busy making our Christmas decorations to bring home this week. On Friday the children decided they would like to make paper chains. We have decorated the room with the paper chains they made. They independently made them.

This week is our last week before we break up for Christmas on Friday 16th December. On Monday we went and watched key stage 1 Christmas performance of the Sleepy shepherd which is based on the nativity story.
On Wednesday it is the Christmas traditional hot lunch. On Friday it is our Christmas party in the morning from 9-11.45. If your child does not attend on Friday and would like to join us for the Christmas party please let a member of staff know. There's a party food list in the corridor if you haven't already signed up.
We will be finishing off all our Christmas decorations and decorating our cakes we made to bring home on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

All things sparkly...

Hello everyone

Last week we all enjoyed reading the story of the Christmas Robin by David Hatley.  We made the Christmas tree decorations from the story for the Christmas tree festival at St Georges Church. The children really enjoyed the story about the robin.

The Christmas baking has started with lovely smells filling the pre-school, with some children having had a go at weighing out the ingredients for their cooking. There are some photos of our Christmas baking on display.

We have been talking about the initial sounds of our names along with our friends name during sounds and letters.

It was lovely to see lots of our families join us for our family breakfast last week, and I hope you agree that it was a great success.

This week we are going out in the taxi’s to the garden centre to see the Christmas decorations. We will be talking about the colours and shapes of the decorations along with different textures and smells. We will be taking some photo’s using the ipad of our favourite decorations.

Also this week we will be continuing to make some lovely Christmas decorations to bring home next week.

This week we will also be talking about and sharing stories of the nativity story. We will be learning lots of Christmas songs and reading different Christmas stories throughout the week.
