Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely weekend despite the rain.

On Monday morning we had PE and we practiced our bat and ball skills through a variety of games. In the afternoon a group of children went to Reception for a story, play and they explored the Reception outside area. On Tuesday morning we had our Kickboxing session which we all really enjoyed. We went on a monkey adventure. We used the skills of  jumping with two feet. On Wednesday morning a group of children visited the local care home for a sing song, story and cake. The other group of children did PE in the school hall practiced their  ball skills through using hockey skills to control their ball. Throughout the week we have been busy making some yummy Easter treats along with a Easter wreath. We have also done a science experiment involving rolling eggs in different types of material. Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the marble run, flower garden construction, zoo animal wooden blocks.  In the number area we have been playing with the eggs, egg boxes, numerals and money. We have pretended to have an egg shop and have done lots of counting and solving number problems.  We have enjoyed marking making using the special drawing boards. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out flowers and spring animals and decorating them with gems, pipe cleaners and buttons. In the small world area we have been playing with the Easter small world scene. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been designing our own eggs with pastic sticks, beads and gems. We have made repeating patterns.

We have now learnt all the Read Write Inc pictures and we are now focusing on Fred Frog. Fred Frog can only say sounds and no words. We have been playing lots of games with Fred. We have been doing lots of rhyming games and stories. We have also learnt the sound 'm,a,s,t,d,i,n'. Here is a video of the sound we have learnt to share at home- m Sound ,a Sounds soundt soundd soundi soundn sound

During group time this week we talked about Reggie the Resilient tortoise friend Rose the Resourceful Spider and met Renee the Reciprocal Bee who is all about teamwork.

How can you help your children establish Reciprocity at home?

Reciprocity is all about give and take, the fundamental skills for life long learning that we are aiming to instil are those of Interdependence - balancing independence and sociability;

Collaboration - the skills of learning with others; Empathy - thinking about others’ points of view and feelings; Listening - it’s more than just hearing and Imitation - picking up others’ habits and values. You can do this through play and day to day activities at home by: •Demonstrating/modelling being a good learner. •Work, play and learn alongside your children, enabling them to pick up good habits through imitation. •Make expectations of turn-taking and cooperation clear.

Some pictures from the week..

This week we have lots of fun Easter activities planned including a trip to the farm, hot cross buns, Easter egg hunt, Easter crafts and lots more.

The other group of children did some painting of their recall of Mothers day and made pizza for everyone for snack. On Tuesday morning we had our Kickboxing session which we all really enjoyed. We went on a monkey adventure. We used the skills of  jumping with two feet, balancing along the bench, go in and out of the cones, ducking the swinging pads and kicking the pad. In the afternoon we made  a wormery. A group of children created a womery habitat using a container with different sections of soil, sand, stones and leaves. Another group of children went on a worm hunt around school. We founds lots of worms to add to our womery. We have now been watching the worms making tracks. We also came up with lots of questions about worms which we found the answer out using the internet. On Wednesday morning a group of children visited the local care home. We shared the story of Shark in the park and The Gingerbread man and for snack we shared cakes. The other group of children did PE in the school hall practiced their  ball skills through lots of games and balancing skills using the equipment. In the afternoon we planted some cress seeds to bring home. Our challenge is to look after them and send a picture in once they have started growing. What could you make with your cress? We would love to see photos. We learnt what a seed needs to be able to grow. On Thursday we planted some more seeds including sunflower, tomatoes and marigolds. We are going to be looking after these seeds in the classroom. On Friday it was Red Nose Day. We learnt all about how our money supports other children in the World. We made Red Nose Day biscuits. Throughout the week we have enjoyed constructing with the mobil, magnetic lego, zoo waffle and wooden bricks and dinosaurs .  In the number area we have been playing with the coloured rods, carrots of different sizes to put in the right hole and wooden numeral penguins.  We have enjoyed marking making using whiteboard pens on foil. We have also enjoyed using the playdough to cut out flowers and spring animals and decorating them with gems, pipe cleaners and buttons. In the small world area we have been playing with the allotment small world scene. On our finger frenzy table this week we have been using the pipettes and water to put water in the different shaped ice cube moulds.
