Hello everyone.......

 Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a fabulous weekend. Last week we enjoyed sharing lots of rhyming stories at group time.  We have also been playing the shape bag game.

On Monday we did some shape printing using different shaped everyday objects. We talked about the shape name and describe the shape e.g. corners, points and sides. On Tuesday we made shape sandwiches for snack. We either made triangle, square or circle sandwiches. We used the knife to spread the butter and to cut our sandwich into a shape. On Wednesday a group of children went to visit the residents at a local residential home. We sang songs, listened to a story and played with the parachute. We shared our Numicon biscuits we made and they were very yummy. We had a lovely time. Another group had PE with Mr Treble and played some games in the hall. Throughout the week we have been making decorations for our Christmas Tree at St Georges Church Christmas Tree festival. We have been using our scissor skills, dribbling glue skill and making angels. Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with magnetic lego, wooden blocks and Lego. Our finger frenzy this week has been using the threading pens and boards.  We have been mark making in the black sparkle sand with paint brushes and sticks.  On the number table this week we have been sorting everyday objects into shape groups. We have been busy making playdough cakes using the cupcake cases, gems, number cutters and candles.  In our role play are we have been playing with the woodland and campfire scene along with the tent. On the playdough table we have been creating our own bugs. We have been exploring with the magnets to see which objects are magnetic and non magnetic.

We have been exploring rhyming throughout the week at group time with a variety of fun games and stories. Also we continue to talk about Reggie the Resilient Tortoise. In our Harold Scarf time this week we have been talking about sharing with our friends and kind hands and words.

Hello everyone....

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the dry weather!

Last week we enjoyed sharing the story of Spinderella by Julia Donaldson at group time. The story was all about spiders and numbers.

On Monday it was Odd Socks Day to support National Anti-Bullying Awareness Week. At group time we all looked at our odd socks and then talk about how we are all different and everyone is special. We designed our own odd socks using a variety of media. On Tuesday we used the headsets to do some drama about mini beasts. In the afternoon we did a science experiment which involved drawing a spider on foil with a whiteboard pen and then putting water on the top. We then discovered what happened. On Wednesday a group of children went to visit the residents at a local residential home. We sang songs, listened to a story and played with the parachute. We had a lovely time. Another group had PE with Mr Treble and played some games in the hall. In the afternoon we used a potato masher to make spiders and then we had the challenge of sticking on the correct number of legs on each side of the spider. On Thursday we played the number hedgehog game which involved using the skills of taking turns and counting. In the afternoon we made a large spiders web outside and we climbed over, through and under the web. On Friday it was Children in Need day and we talked about what Children in Need is. We made some moving Pudsey bears and some very yummy numicon biscuits which we decorated with smarties. We counted the smarties when we put them on the Numicon Biscuits. Throughout the week we have been busy making Christmas Cakes which we will be bringing home at the end of term.

Throughout the week we have been busy constructing with magnetic lego, wooden blocks and Lego. Our finger frenzy this week has been rescuing the spiders from the web using tweezers.  We have been mark making on the foil with cotton buds and paint.  On the number table this week we have had shape pictures to make using different shapes.

In our Harold Scarf time we have been sharing the story of Elmer. We have talked about how everyone is different and similar in different ways and how special each and everyone of us are. Also we have introduced the Word bird... When we see a bird we say there's the word bird. We then tell the child/children a word and the meaning of the word. I used the word Magnificent this week.
