under the sea

Welcome back to the second half of the summer term, lets hope the weather is 'summery' and we can enjoy as many activities as possible outside.
This week our topic will be under the sea, with lots of crafts, messy play and number activities using shells, fish and other under the sea creatures as our inspiration.
Before the half term most of the children made a marble painting using colours of the sea, this week the children will be using their painting to make an under the sea picture.

JIGSAW. this half term the theme is 'changes' of which our focus will be moving to reception class.
We will also be reading the stories of the rainbow fish and continue to talk about friendships.

Lots of gardening to do this half term as our 'pizza ingredients' continue to grow. As well as potatoes, courgettes and beans and peas.

The seaside

Hello everyone,
We hope all the children who came on the beach trip with Reception class last week enjoyed themselves.
The children have started to make some lovely postcards of their trip, and this week we will be painting some pebbles the children brought back with them.
We will also be marble painting with different shades of blue, then using the paintings to collage on.
We wrote down words of the things the children saw, could smell and could feel when we were on the beach, and this week we will be using the words to create our display. Look out for the photographs that will be up this week.
JIGSAW we continue to be the best friends we can be, also trying to listen to each other when we are talking to each other or in a group.

Please continue to look out for numbers in the environment when out and about with your child, let us know which ones you spot. WRITE THEM ON A WOW. this is all valuable information for the learning journeys.

seaside, a new topic

The children had a great time on the scootathon/bike ride last week, thank you to all parents and families who have sponsored the children.
We have been continuing to do some spring planting and gardening, look out for seeds and plants beginning to grow in our outside space.
Have you been planting at home?  we have had some lovely WOW's telling us about gardening at home, can you write a WOW about family gardening in your garden or do you have an allotment?

This week we start a new topic 'the seaside'. we have some lovely stories and rhymes to start us off, but our biggest source of inspiration will be our trip to the beach on Wednesday, which everyone is looking forward too.
SOME IDEAS FOR THINGS TO DO AT HOME!
Do you have a favourite seaside story?
Do you have a favourite seaside photograph ?
Can you draw a seaside picture?

Don't forget to look out for numbers when you are out and about and see if your child can tell you what the number is

lets hope for a fine week, especially on Wednesday!

scootathon

Last week we explored and learnt with lots of activities about number. We sang songs and listened to number stories. At circle time we played number quizzes. We made patterns and played with numicon. Some of the children used the numicon to draw with and made pictures.
We intend to continue these activities this coming week.

A WOW moment... look out for numbers in the environment and let us know if you spot any when out and about.

Last week we also had lots of fun playing musical instruments and singing at the same time. We have been singing a song called 'rat a tat tat' with shakers , bells and claves, the children were so good at it, we all enjoyed ourselves, and will continue this week.
The children have also enjoyed listening to pop music, classical music. Then we tried to guess which instruments we could hear.
A WOW moment.... whats the type of music you like listening to at home ? Does your child have a favourite song? Do they like singing at home?

This coming week is scootathon week, so look out for your child's day to scoot! (or ride a bike or tricycle )

We also have sweet peas and seeds to plant out side so we hope for some fine weather.

Don't forget to return your beach trip slip.
